A deputy was sent to the area of CTH A and USH 8 in the town of Bradley for a car crash. The crash was first reported as having no injuries, but when the deputy arrived, minor injuries were found. The driver, Garcia Vite of Chicago, said he had been traveling north on CTH A when he drifted off the road and struck a light pole. The deputy observed signs of impairment and asked Vite to perform sobriety tests. Vite agreed and, based on the results, was arrested on a first-offense operating while intoxicated charge. He was transported to the Lincoln County Jail and turned over to corrections staff.
Oct. 31, 2026
A deputy was sent to the area of CTH K and Creek Avenue in the town of Scott for a report of a vehicle in the ditch. The deputy made contact with the driver, Derek Meringdol of Merrill, who said he had been attempting a U-turn when he drove into the ditch. The deputy noticed signs of impairment and asked Meringdol to perform sobriety tests. Meringdol agreed and, based on the results, was arrested on a second-offense OWI charge and a charge of possession of marijuana. He was transported to the Lincoln County Jail and turned over to corrections staff.
Weekly activity
For the week of Oct. 26-Nov. 1, deputies conducted 10 traffic stops and 24 security checks and responded to 15 car-versus-deer crashes and one car-versus-bear crash.
