Florence Mae Weizenicker

Florence Mae Weizenicker (nee Gleisner), age 99, passed from her earthly life into eternal life on December 7, 2016 at Golden Living – Golden Age Nursing Home in Tomahawk.

 

Florence was born on May 2, 1917 in Tomahawk, to Henri & Louisa (Faerber) Gleisner. Florence proudly graduated from St. Mary’s School. She married Leon D. Weizenicker on July 3, 1937 at a 6:00AM Mass at St. Mary Catholic Church in Tomahawk. Together, they raised four children. Florence took pride in her home and was an outstanding cook and baker. She loved her kitchen, and all who knew her were aware no one made banana bread and many other baked goods as she did. Together they owned and operated Lake Ice Company. Throughout their retirement they enjoyed many years of travel, staying connected with friends, and many wonderful times with their children, grandchildren, great grandchildren & great great grandchildren.

 

Florence was a member of St. Mary’s Altar Society, Jolly Ten Card Club, St. Mary’s Bible Study, a monthly Birthday Club and enjoyed her trips to the casinos and playing bingo. When she became a resident of Golden Age, she did it with grace and determination of acceptance. Florence was very well liked, loved and respected by the staff and other residents there. She thoroughly enjoyed each and every activity offered.

Florence was beloved by her children, grandchildren, great grandchildren and was very excited to become a great great grandmother. One of Florence’s special qualities was the number of friends she stayed in contact with by phone calls and many cards and letters throughout the years.

 

Florence is survived by two sons – David (Joyce) Weizenicker, of Rock Port, TX and Tomahawk, Thomas (Phyllis) Weizenicker, of Tomahawk; two daughters – Judith Nelson, of Tomahawk, and Jeanne (Wayne) Kroeplin, of Marathon. She is also survived by 10 grandchildren – JoAnn (Scott) Kuharske, Susan (Mike) Walton, Laurie Lawson, Karl Weizenicker, Julie (Todd) Merow, Louise (Jerry) Ingman, Melissa (Neil) Bohan, Lee (Shannon) Nelson, Jeff Hinke & Veronica Hinke; She was proud of her 12 great grandchildren – Leo & Ray Kuharske, Edward & Lauren Weizenicker, Connor Merow, Ross (Lindsey) Ingman, Jared & Alexis Ingman, Madeline & Clare Bohan and Mitch & Maggie Nelson; and three great great grandsons – Jack & Henry Ingman and Elijah Ingman. She is further survived by her sister, Marie Mand, many nieces, nephews and friends. Florence was preceded in death by her husband Leon, in 1999, her two sons-in-law – Bob Nelson & Bill Hinke, as well as her sisters – Irene (Sister Sylvina) Gleisner, Agnes Van Harpen, Theresa Hornung, Veronica Gleisner, Catherine Gleisner; and brothers – Bernard, Lloyd, Ralph & Martin Gleisner.

 

 

A Mass of Christian Burial for Florence Weizenicker will take place at 11:00AM, Monday, December 12, 2016 at St. Mary Catholic Church, in Tomahawk. The family will receive friends at the church from 10 a.m. until the time of mass at 11:00AM. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery, in Tomahawk.

 

A memorial will be established in Florence’s name or to the Tomahawk Public Library.
