Ruth Ann Lorraine Grohman

Ruth Ann Lorraine Grohman, 83, of Wausau, transferred to her heavenly home Friday, January 22, 2016, at Hospice House in Wausau under the care of Aspirus Comfort Care and Hospice Services.

Ruth was born May 4, 1932, in Gleason, WI, daughter of the late Ernest and Ernestine (Siewert) Drewitz. She received her education in the Gleason/Merrill schools. After graduating from school she went on to become a teacher at the Normal School for grades one through eight in the town of Maine.

On June 27, 1953, Ruth was united in marriage to LaVerne Grohman in Merrill, WI. Together they built a home residing at 150 Rainbow Drive in the Town of Maine, Merrill, WI. She worked for over 15 years as a bookkeeper at Brokaw Credit Union. After LaVerne’s death on May 26, 1986, she moved to make her home in Wausau.

Ruth faithfully served her Savior through the years teaching Sunday school, singing in the choir and singing solo’s duringWednesday worship services at Christian Assembly Church in Wausau, and with her sisters on occasion. She enjoyed attending Spencer Lake Bible Camp every summer in Waupaca. She also enjoyed gardening, reading, and doing crossword puzzles.

She is survived by three children, Mary (Gary) Lembke of Wichita KS, Mark Grohman and Joel (Mary) Grohman both of Wausau; four grandchildren, Zachary, Victoria, Hannah and Gregory; two great grandchildren, Donovan and Clarissa; two sisters, Elaine (Charles) Rahlf of Kingman, AZ, and Marilyn (Jim) Zyzkowski of Mankato, MN.

Ruth was preceded in death by her parents, husband, a son Dan in 1992 and two brothers Howard and Wilbur Drewitz.

Ruth continued the family legacy of passing down the Christian heritage through our generations and her wish is that all her children and children’s children, will upon profession of their faith in Jesus Christ, one day meet her in heaven.

A Celebration of Life will be at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, January 30, 2016, at the Christian Assembly Church, 400 Grand Avenue, Wausau, with Pastor Dennis Romine officiating. Burial will be in the Maple Grove Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4 to 6 p.m. Friday, January 29, 2016, at the Helke Funeral Home, 302 Spruce Street, Wausau, and 1 hour prior to services at the church.
