Sister Anita Wolf

Sister Anita Wolf, age 86, Sister of Mercy of the Holy Cross, died June 13, 2011, at Bell Tower Residence, Merrill, Wisconsin, under the care of the staff at Bell Tower Residence and Asera Care Hospice.
Sister Anita was born January 30, 1925, in Hague, North Dakota, daughter of Peter and Eva (Mueller) Wolf, and given the name Mary Louise. She entered Holy Cross Convent in Merrill, Wisconsin, on August 20, 1946, and made her First Profession on July 17, 1948.
Sister received her bachelor of science degree in accounting from St. Louis University, a master’s degree in hospital administration from the University of Minnesota, and a master’s degree in religion and medical care from George Washington University.
Sister Anita ministered at St. Joseph’s Hospital, Dickinson, ND; St. John’s School, Deer Park, OH; and Holy Cross Hospital, Merrill, WI, where she served as administrator from 1960-1966. She also ministered at Mercy Hospital, Williston, North Dakota; Covenant Medical Center, Urbana, IL; St. Joseph’s Convent, Campbellsport, WI and did volunteer work in Bellaire, MI; and Irene, South Dakota. She served as coordinator of the senior sisters at Bell Tower Residence. She was also the manager of the Merrill Food Pantry from 2000 until her retirement in November of 2009.
She enjoyed hiking, reading and the outdoors.
Sister is survived by her family of Holy Cross Sisters and Associates, nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, five brothers and seven sisters.
Mass of Resurrection will be held 10:30 a.m., on Thursday, June 16, in Holy Cross Chapel at Bell Tower Residence, Merrill, WI, with Rev. Dan Crosby and Rev. Larry Johnson officiating. Visitation will take place from 9 a.m. June 16, until time of service in Holy Cross Chapel. A wake service will be held at 9:30 a.m. Burial will follow in St. Francis Cemetery, Merrill, WI. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Bell Tower Residence or the Holy Cross Sisters.
