T-Mobile adds new cell tower in Merrill

Posted

T-Mobile has installed a new cell site on South End Road in Merrill, expanding wireless coverage and bringing enhanced 5G service to the area, the company announced in a press release on Dec. 3, 2025.
The new tower provides both 5G Extended Range and Ultra Capacity service, offering improved coverage, higher capacity, and faster data speeds for local customers. The Merrill site is one of 38 new cell towers T-Mobile constructed across Wisconsin during the third quarter of 2025.
The expansion also benefits former UScellular customers in the Merrill area. Since T-Mobile acquired UScellular in August 2025, the company has been working to improve network performance across the former UScellular service areas. According to T-Mobile, overall network speeds for UScellular customers have increased by an average of 125 percent since the merger.
As part of the integration, 2,000 UScellular cell sites nationwide are being incorporated into the T-Mobile network. The company said this will improve service for both T-Mobile and former UScellular customers.
Coverage maps for both networks are available on the T-Mobile and UScellular websites.
