St. John Lutheran School celebrates National Lutheran Schools Week

Posted

National Lutheran Schools Week is a very important time! Started by the Missouri Synod and celebrated by schools across the nation, this week gives students the opportunity to proclaim God’s word and give thanks for each school’s hard work in sharing that good news to kids, families, and communities.

During National Lutheran Schools Week, there are a lot of fun school events that students at St. John do to celebrate their Lutheran school. One of the most important is devotions every day of the week. Every morning, each class gathers in the church for a daily devotion. These are the most fun, as students get to learn about Jesus. Alongside devotions, students also have super fun dress-up days to look forward to. This can range from future jobs to athletic gear. Every day there are also other fun activities, like the St. John Cinema and a motivational speaker.

Students love looking at the school newsletter to see what they should wear for the next day and to notice how the devotion matches the theme of the day. Students also look forward to the other activities, as they find them really fun and interesting.

This year, St. John will be celebrating National Lutheran Schools Week from Sunday, Mar. 2, to Friday, Mar. 7. On Sunday Pre-K - fourth grade students will be singing at the 8 a.m. service. The fifth through eighth graders will be singing at the 10:30 a.m. service.
Monday, Mar. 3, will be Run the Race Day. Students will dress up like athletes or wear athletic gear. Tuesday the 4th is Celebrate the Future Day. Students will dress like their future selves or dress up for their future jobs. Wednesday the 5th is Dress Your Best Day, and students will play bingo with their Chapel Families and make cards for people in the community. Thursday the 6th is Disguise Day, where students are invited to wear a mystery disguise. Juggler and motivational speaker Luke Winger will also perform on Thursday morning. On Friday the 7th, students will wear neon colors and will go bowling.
