Shed fire destroys maple syrup operation in Town of Pine River

Posted

A shed used for maple syrup production was destroyed by fire Sunday evening, March 29, 2026, on State Road 64 in the Town of Pine River.
The Pine River Fire Department was dispatched at 7:45 p.m. to W4116 State Road 64, where a Lincoln County deputy arrived first and found the structure fully engulfed and beginning to collapse. No other buildings on the property were immediately threatened.
Crews deployed two handlines to knock down the blaze, which had begun spreading into nearby woods before firefighters gained control. The Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources also responded to the scene.
The homeowner told firefighters the shed was part of his maple syrup operation and believed that work was the likely cause of the fire. The structure and its contents were a total loss.
No injuries were reported.
