The Merrill Varsity Bluejays snapped a nine-year losing streak to Mosinee with a 13-0 shutout win Friday, Sept. 18, 2026, at Jay Stadium in Merrill. The win also came on Senior Night for the Bluejays.
“We took care of Mosinee at home this past week,” said Merrill Varsity Head Coach Jason Wadzinski. “After a scoreless first half for both sides, we got the ball moving on the ground offensively and put together back-to-back nice drives in the third quarter.”
“This was a gritty conference win and an important one as we begin the back half of the season,” he said. “This victory was led by the defensive unit, who forced three takeaways in addition to the shutout.”
Merrill’s offense leaned on the ground game, rushing for 153 yards on 29 carries. Kanin Jahnke carried the ball 17 times for 64 yards and a touchdown, Cole Rudie added 80 yards and a touchdown on 11 carries, and Brody Klebenow had one carry for 9 yards. Rudie also went 6-of-11 passing for 92 yards.
Ryker Remington hauled in two receptions for 55 yards, Kanin Jahnke added two catches for 19 yards, Aiden Drake caught a 17-yard pass, and Cartter Schade had one catch for 1 yard.
