On Thursday, April 10, 2025, the Merrill Girls Varsity Softball Team had their home opener taking on the Marshfield Girls at the MARC. In the end, it was the Marshfield Tigers who took home the win. “We competed; it was a tough loss,” said Merrill Varsity Girls Head Coach Alison Natzke. “We outhit them 13-7; they just were able to take advantage of runners on base more than we did,” she said. “Grace Hoff went 3/3 with a single, double, and home run, 4 RBI’s. Mackenzie Herdt, Kendell Klug, Abbie Krueger, and Dani Schielke all had two doubles apiece.”

Subsequent games have left the Merrill Varsity Girls fighting to get back into the game with consecutive losses. On Friday, April 11, the Merrill Girls Varsity Team suffered a tough loss in a shutout game against Pacelli Catholic School at the MARC, losing 0-6.
On Monday, April 14, another home game at the MARC put the Merrill Girls up against Medford, and this time it was the Raiders that made things tough for Merrill. While the Merrill Girls got on the board with a single score, the Medford Raiders crossed the home plate 11 times, leading to another defeat for Merrill, 1-11.
Hoping to shake off their losses, the Merrill Girls Varsity Softball Team traveled to Stevens Point on Tuesday, April 15, to compete against the Stevens Point Panthers, only to be dealt another crushing hit, in another shutout game where they couldn’t get a score on the board and Point took the win, 11-0.
