Posted

Lincoln County won a 2025 Emmy award for a short video highlighting the area’s dog sledding tradition, in the Outstanding Achievement for Human Interest – Short-Form Content category at the 67th Chicago/Midwest Emmy Awards on Nov. 14, 2025. The award-winning piece, “The Heart of Wisconsin Mushing,” was produced in partnership with Uniquely Wisconsin and Discover Wisconsin.
The video features Melissa Omernick, a musher from Gleason, and showcases the community’s connection to sled dog sports. It highlights the Doris Lovrine Memorial Dog Sled Race, an annual event held in Gleason that draws competitors and spectators from across the region.
“We’re incredibly honored to see Lincoln County’s story recognized at the Chicago/Midwest Emmy Awards,” said Renee Krueger, Lincoln County Administrator. “’The Heart of Wisconsin Mushing” captures the spirit, dedication, and community pride that make our region so special. Partnering with Discover Mediaworks through the Uniquely Wisconsin initiative allowed us to share a piece of our heritage with the entire Midwest, and this award is a reflection of that passion and collaboration.”
The Doris Lovrine Memorial Dog Sled Race honors Doris Lovrine, a supporter of sled dog sports. The event features sprint and mid-distance races for mushers of varying skill levels.
Lincoln County’s collaboration with Discover Wisconsin and Uniquely Wisconsin includes television advertising, blog content, and video productions that promote the area.
The award-winning video can be viewed on discoverwisconsin.com and on Discover Wisconsin’s social media channels.
