Lincoln County highway construction update

Posted

US Hwy. 8 in Lincoln County will undergo construction from McCord Rd. to Cty. L from approximately May 15 to October of this year. Crews are planning to remove 2-inches of the existing asphalt pavement and replace that with 2-inches of new asphalt pavement for the entire length of the project, and they will widen the asphalt portion of the shoulder from 3 feet to 5 feet (and add rumble strips) from Cty. Y to the east project limits to improve biking conditions.
As a part of this project, they will also replace the existing thermoplastic pavement marking at snowmobile crossing located three miles east of McCord Rd. and add thermoplastic pavement markings at four additional snowmobile crossings; replace the existing guardrails connected to the roadway bridge over the Tomahawk River; replace the curb and gutter at the Cty. U intersection; and replace the existing railroad crossing, the roadway approaches, drainage culverts, and vision triangle clearing for federal railroad safety requirements at the Fox Valley and Lake Superior railroad crossing.
Expect possible traffic impacts and flagging during the course of the project.
