Jack Ament, 77, passed away on May 16, 2025 at home surrounded by family, of Parkinson’s disease.
He was born October 31, 1947 to Jacob and Edith (Selner) Ament in Kewanee, WI. Jack attended grade and high school in Merrill where he excelled in debate and forensics. He graduated from Stevens Point State University and Marquette Law School. He practiced law with his Father in Merrill for 10 years before moving to Eau Claire as Trial Attorney for American Family Insurance until health issues led to retirement.
Jack was an avid trout fisher, bird and deer hunter, duplicate bridge player, cross country skier, mountain biker and active in AA until health issues slowed him down. He loved to encourage and mentor family and friends to join him in his interests.
Jack is survived by his wife of 57 years, Carol Gross Ament, daughters, Eleanor (Dustin) Kohlwey and Edith Ament (Jared) Robinson, and granddaughters Abigail Owen, and Brooklyn and Winter Robinson and his brothers Richard (Mary Beth) Ament and Russel (Michael Mary) Ament, and sister, Cheri (Mark) Siebilt, as well as many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in in death by his parents, Jacob and Edith, niece, Sara Hohmeister, and nephew, Derris Taylor.
A Celebration of Life will be held August 9, 2025 from 1:00-6:00 P.M at 16176 93 Ave. Chippewa Falls. The house, lawn, and lake will be an Open House to family and friends, old and new to visit and join us for food and refreshments.
