Funeral homes in Merrill unite to serve the community

Waid Funeral and Cremation Service and Taylor-Stine Funeral & Cremation last week announced their plans to consolidate into one united business which will provide “exceptional funeral care to the Merrill community,” they said in a press release.
Effective Jan. 1, 2025, the new business name will be Taylor-Stine-Waid Funeral & Cremation. “Taylor-Stine will now be part of Vertin Family Funeral Homes, which Waid has been part of for many years,” said Anna Winningham. who has been a Funeral Director and Manager at Waid Funeral Home for 12 years.
“With a shared commitment to the community and a longstanding history in the business, the two locations will continue to operate separate facilities, allowing families to choose the funeral home that best fits their needs, while benefiting from a combined wealth of expertise and resources,” the release said.
“We are devoted to continue offering the highest level of care and comfort to families,” said Winningham, who will now manage both locations. “This unity allows us to enhance our services and support during life’s most challenging moments.”
“Being born and raised in Merrill, and dedicating 21 years to funeral service and this community, I understand the importance of commitment,” said Leah Reist, Funeral Director at Taylor-Stine. “By combining our staff and resources, we are excited to provide even more of a seamless support to our community.”
“The combined staff will work across both locations, ensuring continuity and support for families at every step. This collaborative approach enhances service options while upholding the personal and compassionate care that has defined both businesses for many years,” the release said.
There will be no disruption in services during this transition, according to the release. “Families can expect the same exceptional care they have come to rely on, whether they choose Taylor-Stine-Waid at the Eagle Dr. location (formerly Waid) or the Third St. location (formerly Taylor-Stine),”
