Lincoln County Administrative Coordinator Renee Krueger has issued a correction to financial information about Pine Crest Nursing Home that was published in last week’s edition.
The county-provided spreadsheet detailing 11 years of Pine Crest operating costs contained an error that has now been rectified.
The correction removes $1,126,328 from the “Additional Payment to Cover Deficit” column for 2022. It also shifts $1,009,188 in ARPA funds from 2023 to 2022, as this money was paid in 2023 but covered the 2022 shortfall.
These adjustments reduce the total in the “Additional Payment to Cover Deficit” column from $4,087,263 to $2,961,295.
The correction also changes the cost to taxpayers for 2023 from $1,873,727 to $864,539, bringing the 11-year total taxpayer outlay down to $10,557,169 from the previously reported $11,566,357.
This means Pine Crest Nursing Home cost Lincoln County taxpayers an average of $959,743 annually over the 11-year period.
“I want to apologize and can’t begin to express how disappointed I am that I did not catch this earlier,” Krueger said. “There was an inaccurate reflection in the amounts in the 2023 and 2022 under the additional payment to cover deficits. The $1,126,328 was the projected amount that was approved through ARPA but the final amount of $1,009,188 was the actual [amount].”
According to Krueger, the error was discovered after a reader questioned the figures.
Krueger has consistently provided all requested financial information regarding Pine Crest Nursing Home to the Merrill Foto News. She was appointed as Interim Administrative Coordinator in Nov. 2022 while simultaneously serving as Director of Social Services, before being named permanent Administrative Coordinator in Mar. 2023.
