Healthy Minds Coalition promotes wellness during Mental Health Month

May is Mental Health Month. This month serves as a reminder that mental health is essential to everyone’s overall health and well-being. This year’s theme is “4Mind4Body”, emphasizing animal
companionship, spirituality, humor, work-life balance and social connections to boost mental and general wellness.
“It is important to look at your overall health, both physically and mentally, to achieve wellness,” said Kristin Bath, Public Health Educator for the Lincoln County Health Department. “Finding a
reason to laugh, going for a walk with a friend, meditating, playing with a pet, or working from home once a week can go a long way in making you both physically and mentally healthy – it’s all
about finding the right balance to benefit both the mind and body.”
Healthy Minds for Lincoln County will be decorating the River Bend Trail with chalk messages on May 29, 2019 at 5 pm to promote mental health wellbeing. Community members are welcome to
join. These messages will be on display for the second annual Walk for Tyler on June 1 to increase awareness of mental health in the community. Registration is at the River Bend Trail pavilion from 8-9 a.m, and a 2.5 mile walk will follow. Proceeds for the walk will go toward Tyler’s Playground, a naturalized play area in Bebel Park on the River Bend Trail. For questions regarding
the Walk for Tyler, please contact [email protected].
