Robert A. Wendt

Robert A. Wendt, 94, of the Town of Corning, passed away on Friday, May 17, 2019 at Ascension St. Clare’s Hospital, Weston. Robert was born May 22, 1924 in the Town of Corning, son of the late Robert and Ella (Schmidt) Wendt. He married Luella R. Weide on September 9, 1944. She preceded him in death on June 25, 2007. Robert had been a Dairy Farmer in the Town of Corning. He also worked construction and did logging. Robert was an active member of Immanuel Lutheran Church, Town of Corning. He had served as president of the congregation, was a former Elder and Trustee, played on church dartball team, and was a member of the Men’s Club. Robert was also active in his community. For 23 years he served as a Supervisor for the Town of Corning. Robert served on the Lincoln County Zoning Board of Adjustment. Robert was also a charter member of the Town of Corning Volunteer Fire Department. Robert’s hobbies included hunting, making maple syrup, and picking wild berries.

Survivors include two sons, Stanley (Patty) Wendt and Russell Wendt, both of Merrill; three grandchildren Robert M. (with Sara Wegner) Wendt, McKinze Wendt, and Caeden Wendt, all of Merrill; and two great grandchildren, Emmalyn and Hanna Wendt, both of Merrill. Besides his wife and parents, Robert is preceded in death by an infant son, Timothy Alan Wendt; three sisters, Mildred Woller, Leila Wegner, and Hilda Kleinschmidt; and five brothers, Alvin, Edward, Arnold, Harold, and Kurth.

The funeral will be at 11:00 AM Wednesday, May 22, 2019 at Immanuel Lutheran Church, Town of Corning. The Rev. Joel Danner will officiate. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Visitation will be from 4:00 PM until 7:00 PM Tuesday at the Taylor-Stine Funeral Home, Merrill, and after 9:30 AM Wednesday at the church.
