Norman L. Paroubek

Norman L. Paroubek, age 93, of Seneca, IL, previously of Merrill, passed away peacefully on Friday, April 5, 2019 at the Veteran’s Home in Seneca, IL. Norm graduated from Merrill High School in 1943. He was very active in football and basketball. He was voted captain of his basketball team in his senior year by his teammates. He also enjoyed playing softball. He pitched for the 6th Ward Merchants, who won several championship games. In the year of 2018, Norm, after 75 years in the “Silver M Club,” received a Diamond Emblem and was “The Guest of Honor” at the “Silver M” banquet last fall. Shortly after he graduated from high school, he was drafted into the Army-Air Force. He served 2.5 years in World War II. Upon his discharge, he worked at Merrill View Dairy, where he worked approximately 2 years. He also worked at the U.S. Post Office in Seneca, IL for the remainder of his working days. He retired from that job in 1981.

Norm was preceded in death by his wife, Emily. They were married 62 years. They lost one son, Ronald also. Also preceded in death were his parents, Joseph and Ida Paroubek; brothers, Myron, Milton, Wyman and Roland; two sisters, Rozella and Angela. He is survived by two beloved children, son Robert of Seneca, IL and daughter Nancy of Chicago, IL. Also one brother, Donald Paroubek of Merrill and many nieces and nephews.

A graveside service will be held at the family plot in Illinois.
