Leonard S. ‘Sam’ Fox

Leonard S. ‘Sam’ Fox, 88, of Gleason, passed away at his home Friday, April 5, 2019 under the care of his family and Aspirus Comfort Care & Hospice Services. Sam was born November 13, 1930 in Lincoln County, son of the late Charles and Rose (Dignin) Fox.  He married Shirley Prueser on March 18, 1961.  She preceded him in death on December 20, 1997.  Sam was a self-employed logger.  He also worked at Warren Latzig’s tree farm.  Sam enlisted in the United States Army in 1951.  He was honorably discharged and was a member of the American Legion.  Sam enjoyed fishing, hunting, snowmobiling, spending time in the woods and at his cabin in St. Germain.  He also enjoyed an occasional trip to the casino.

Survivors include his son, Marty Fox of Gleason; daughters, Florence McGill of Milwaukee, Ruth Hoefer of New Berlin and Marge (Brian) Nass of Gleason; grandchildren, Mark McGill, Eric Murawski, Adam Murawski, Marcie (John) Hanson and Jessica (Devin) Frick; great-grandchildren, Mariah Murawski, Jason Murawski, Lilly Murawski, Maxwell Murawski, Joseph Murawski, Jax Hanson, Jayden Hanson, Jamis Hanson and Marielle Nass; brother, Harold ‘Punk’ (Marlene) Fox of Merrill; and sister-in-law, Bonnie Prueser of Gleason.  Sam was preceded in death by his wife, Shirley Fox; daughter, Marcy Kay Fox; grandson, Adam Krueger; brother, Don (Mary) Fox; and sisters, Geraldine (Jim) Tomasek, Marge (Ralph) Boes and Joyce Tryczak.

A visitation for Sam will be held from 10:00 A.M. until 11:00 A.M. Tuesday, April 9, 2019, at the Taylor-Stine Funeral Home, Merrill.  A private funeral service will be held.  Burial will take place in Forestview Cemetery, Langlade County. The Taylor-Stine Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Merrill, is assisting the family.
