Elaine H. Schroeder

Elaine H. Schroeder, 89, of Merrill, passed away Sunday, April 7, 2019 at Bell Tower Residence, Merrill. Elaine was born November 10, 1929, in Merrill, daughter of the late Henry and Elsie (Kunkel) Tewes.  She married Eugene Schroeder on September 8, 1951.  He preceded her in death on October 28, 2015.  Elaine had worked for many years as the receptionist for the former Family Medical Clinic in Merrill.  Elaine and her husband, Eugene, enjoyed camping at Fox Fire Campground for more than 37 years; and traveling as a ‘snow birds’, especially to Gulf Shores, Alabama.  Elaine was a longtime member of St. John Lutheran Church, Merrill and an active member of the Mother’s Club, Altar Guild, and Ladies Aid at the church. Elaine was well known for her homemade Peanut Bars and Chocolate Angel Food Cake. She enjoyed knitting, especially Christmas stocking for all her family members. Elaine also enjoyed tending to her flowers gardens at her home. Elaine’s children remember her as a gentle person who had a smile for everyone she came into contact with.

Survivors include two daughters, Sandra (Michael) Berndt and Sharon Schubert both of Merrill; one son, Steven (Dianne) Schroeder of Kewaskum; six grandchildren, Jennifer (Corey) Meyer of Hayward, John Fleischman of Milwaukee, Jerad (Shari) Schubert of Merrill, Jason (Casey) Schubert of Little Chute, Ryan Schroeder of Appleton and Captain Kyle Schroeder of Las Vegas, Nevada; four step grandchildren, Anne (Jeremy) Peters of Lake Saint Louis, Missouri, Christopher Berndt of Wausau, Michelle Roberge of Merrill, and Eric (Dana) Woller of Oklahoma; eight great-grandchildren, Christopher, Melanie, Terrin, Cassandra, Kathy, Travis, Melinda and Mazie; seven step great-grandchildren, Arianna, Wyatt, Kayla, Aidan, Kylie, Ailyn, and Abbie; and one great-great-granddaughter, Evie.  Elaine was preceded in death by her husband, Eugene Schroeder; parents, Henry and Elsie Tewes; one granddaughter, Kayla Schroeder; one grandson, Jesse Fleischman; one son-in-law, Jack Schubert; and two brothers, Robert Tewes and Art Tewes.

The funeral will be held at 11:00 AM Saturday, April 13, 2018 at St. John Lutheran Church, Merrill. The Rev. David Szeto will officiate. Burial will follow in Merrill Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will begin at 9:00 AM Saturday at the church.
