Monday afternoon, the Merrill Community New Year Ride donated $1,933 in support of local veterans; BJ Lipke and US Army National Guard Master Sergeant Arnold “Vic” Viljevac, to assist with various medical expenses. The funds were raised as a result of the organization’s third annual winter poker run and raffle on Saturday, Feb 2, thanks to the generous support of 52 local businesses, organizations and community members, including Merrill Schmitt-Manecke-Donner VFW Post 1638 and Hamburg Mar-Lin VFW Post 10203.
