Enrichment Center to offer Mind & Body Wellness course

The Merrill Enrichment Center- with the financial support of Security Health Plan- is excited to offer a Mind & Body Wellness course on Wednesday mornings through the month of March, and the first week in April. The first session will be held Wednesday March 6. Additional sessions will be held March 13, 27 and April 3. Each session is scheduled from 9 a.m.- noon. According to MEC Director Tammie Mrachek, the goal of the program is to provide participants with activities and educational material designed to promote brain health, ultimately empowering people to lead a healthy lifestyle and remain independent. Emphasis will be placed on  growing evidence that lifestyle choices like nutrition, exercise, mental activities, and social activities, can positively impact brain health and reduce the risk of dementia.

The program will combine nutrition, exercise, and fun educational mind games to challenge participants, to keep their brains and body healthy. The program will include time in the kitchen, with tips on preparing healthy meals, snacks, and desserts, as well as participation in exercises that are easy to incorporate into participants’ daily routine, including yoga, meditation, walking, and strength exercises
Those interested must commit to all four weeks to gain the most from the course.
