Sister Jeanne Marie Braun, SCSC, age 90, of Merrill, Wisconsin, died January 8, 2019, under the care of the staff at Bell Tower Residence and Aspirus Comfort Care & Hospice Services at Bell Tower Residence Assisted Living, Merrill, WI. Sister Jeanne Marie (Patricia) Braun was born September 27, 1928 to Albert and Florence (Brady) Braun. She was raised in Athens, WI.
Shen entered Holy Cross Convent in Merrill, Wisconsin, on July 16, 1946, and celebrated her First Profession on July 17, 1948. She was in her 71st year of ministry at the time of her death. Sister received her early education at St. Anthony’s Grade School, Athens, Wisconsin; Our Lady of the Holy Cross High School, Merrill, Wisconsin; Bachelor of Science Degree from College of St. Scholastica, Duluth, Minnesota; and Master of Health Management Degree from St. Louis University, St. Louis, Missouri.
Her ministries included nurses supervisor and administrator at Holy Cross Hospital, Merrill, WI; nursing service director at St. Joseph’s Hospital, Breese, IL; administrator at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Dickinson, ND. She was assistant provincial at Holy Cross Convent, Merrill, WI; Registered Nurse for the retired sisters in Merrill; Visiting Nurse Service in Madison, Wisconsin and Lincoln County Nursing Service, Merrill, WI. Sister Jeanne also volunteered at the Dorothy Day Center and Peace House in St. Paul, MN; Good Samaritan Health Center, Merrill, WI; Merrill Food Pantry and Bell Tower Residence, Merrill, WI. Sister was also a member of the Merrill Peace Study Group.
Sister Jeanne Marie is survived by her family of Holy Cross Sisters and associates; one brother, Robert and wife, Gwen, of Manitowoc, WI; sisters-in-law, Marian Braun of Wausau, WI and Joan Braun of Milwaukee, WI; many nieces and nephews. Her parents, three brothers, Mark, Hugh and James Braun, preceded her in death.
A Mass of Resurrection will be held Monday, January 14, at noon in Holy Cross Chapel at Bell Tower Residence, Merrill, WI. Father Charles Hoffmann is officiating. Burial will be in St. Francis Xavier Cemetery. Visitation from 10:30 A.M. until the time of service at Holy Cross Chapel. Taylor-Stine Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Merrill, is assisting with arrangements.
