Jane C. Carstensen

Jane C. Carstensen, 78, of Merrill, passed away at her home on Sunday, December 30, 2018.

Jane was born December 13, 1940, in Stetsonville, Wisconsin, daughter of the late Herman and Anna (Klimek) Lueck.   She married Harry N. Carstensen on August 30, 1958 at Zion Lutheran Church in Stetsonville.  He survives.  Jane had worked at the former Oconomowoc Canning Company, Lincoln Wood, the former Fox Point and at the time of her retirement Bell Tower Residence, all in Merrill.  She enjoyed knitting and crocheting, quilting at church, reading, fishing, sitting on the deck watching wildlife, camping with her family, and gardening.  Jane especially enjoyed spending time with her grandkids.  Jane was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Merrill.  She was also a member of the Red Hatters.

Survivors include her husband, Harry Carstensen of Merrill; daughter, Cheryl Carstensen of Minnetonka, Minnesota; sons, Al Carstensen and Jeff (Clarice) Carstensen, both of Merrill; eight grandchildren, Jessica Zastrow (Dallas Seiwert) of Merrill, Steven (Katrina) Carstensen of Merrill, Wyat Hatz of Coeur d’Alene, Idaho, Angela (David) Jirovec of Wausau, Ashley Carstensen of Merrill, Justin (Jessica) Carstensen of Wausau, Abby Gunderson of Moorhead, Minnesota and Katie Gunderson of Minnetonka, Minnesota; four great-grandchildren, Maycie Zastrow, Chloe Carstensen, Annie Jirovec and Josiah Jirovec; and her in-laws, Audrey Lueck of Virginia, Madonna Lueck of Sioux City, Iowa and Sheila Lueck of Phillips, Wisconsin.  Jane was preceded in death by her parents, Herman and Anna Lueck; a great-granddaughter, Isabella; and her siblings, Martin Lueck, Evelyn (Clarence) Marti, Helen (Nick) Weiler, Dorothy (Lawrence) Weiler, Melvin (Jan) Lueck, Rosella (Earl) Sarnstrom, Florence (Archie) Dake, Richard Lueck and Jim Lueck.

The funeral service for Jane will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Monday, January 7, 2019 at Trinity Lutheran Church, Merrill.  Rev. Scott Gustafson will officiate. Burial will take place at a later date in Snow Hill Cemetery, Town of Scott.  Visitation will begin at 9:00 A.M. Monday at the church.  Taylor-Stine Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Merrill, is assisting the family with arrangements.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to Trinity Lutheran Church, Merrill.
