Merrill falls to Waupun

On Thursday night the Merrill boys basketball team traveled to Green Bay for a game against Waupun. The Jays would struggle to score in the first half and would end up losing by a final score of 51-66.

The first half of play saw Merrill score only 20 points to Waupuns’ 42. Quinn Steckbauers’ seven points led the Jays in scoring for the half. Michael Casper and Chase Bonnell would each score five points in the half.

In the second half of the game Merrill was much better, outscoring Waupun 31-24, however it was not enough to close the gap as Waupun took the 66-51 victory.

Steckbauer finished the game with 22 points, making four three-pointers. Casper scored eight points in the game, Bonnell ended with five and Piersen Pyan scored four.

The Jays will be back on the court on Friday as they host Wisconsin Rapids in a conference game, starting at 7:15 p.m.
