Jays lose close one to SPASH

On Tuesday night the Merrill boys basketball team traveled to Stevens Point for a conference match up against the Panthers. It was a close game throughout, however SPASH came away with the 73-66 win.

The first half would come to an end in a tie at 31-31. Quinn Steckbauer led the offense for Merrill, scoring 12 points in the half. Michael Casper had eight first half points, Dan Pepke had five and Chase Bonnell scored four.

In the second half of play Merrill was able to keep it close, however SPASH would pull away at the end as they outscored Merrill 42-35 to take the win.

Steckbauer finished the game with a team high 26 points. Casper hit three three-pointers on his way to 11 points in the game. Chase Bonnell and Kordell Renken would each finish the game with eight points and Pepke would finish with five.

The Jays will be back on the court on Friday night as they host Medford in a non conference match up, starting at 7:15 p.m.
