Lady Jays get first conference win

On Friday night the Merrill girls basketball team traveled to Wausau East for their first conference game of the season. East would lead the Jays at halftime, however a good second half would get Merrill the 43-33 win.
It was a back and forth first half with neither team able to build a big lead. East would come out on top in the first half, outscoring the Jays 23-22.

The second half of action saw Merrill score 21 points and hold the Lumberjacks to only 10 on their way to the victory.

Elizabeth Iribarren led the Jays scoring with 15 points. Iribarren also had eight rebounds and two assists for the game. Courtney Krueger finished with eight points, three rebounds and six steals and Dalie Thomas would end the game with nine points, four rebounds, three assists and six steals.

The Jays will be back on the court Friday as they travel to Marshfield for another conference match up, starting at 7:15 p.m.
