Don’t let the flu get you this holiday season

Haven’t received your flu shot yet? It’s not too late. Lincoln County Health Department is continuing to offer Walk-In Wednesday Flu Shot Clinics through Nov. 21.

Last year, in Lincoln County, 42 residents were hospitalized due to the flu. Flu season hit hard in Wisconsin especially among residents 65 years and older. Seasonal flu is usually spread from October through May in the United States. Flu and problems from flu are serious and can be avoided.

Lincoln County Health Department encourages residents to get their annual flu shot as it is the most effective way to protect yourself, your family and your community.

“Stay healthy during the holiday season by getting your flu shot. It can take up to two weeks for the flu shot to take effect,” says Jennifer Johnson, Public Health Nurse for Lincoln County Health Department.

Lincoln County Health Department is holding Flu Shot Clinics, for adults, every Wednesday from 8:30 a.m.-4 p.m. until Nov. 21. Those that wish to get their flu shot after Nov. 21 will need schedule an appointment with the Health Department. The flu shot will only be available while supplies last.

The cost of the Quadravalent flu shot is $40 for adults. We are only able to bill Traditional Medicare, Security Health Plan (Advocare), and Railroad Retirement. We are unable to bill any other Medicare Advantage Plans or private insurance for example Humana, United Health Care, Blue Cross Blue Shield, etc.). Please bring your insurance card. No appointment is necessary.
