David Royal Birch, age 67, of Merrill, went home to be with his precious Lord and Savior at Aspirus Hospice House, on Wednesday, September 26, 2018. David was born June 5, 1951, in Tomahawk, to the late Royal and Estelle Birch. He grew up in Tripoli, WI.
He was married to Sue Ellen and they had a son, Jeremie Birch. On August 20th, 1980 he remarried Donna Harris from Appleton who still survives.
After high school he enlisted in the U.S. Army. After serving his country he worked at Fox Valley Structures in Appleton, he then moved to Merrill and did various jobs until he entered the truck driving profession. His last employer was Pioneer Trucking.
He was a member of Hillside Fellowship of the Assemblies of God in Merrill where he taught adult Bible studies. He also belonged to the Men’s Fellowship Group. David loved watching all the football games and playing cards at family gatherings. He was always willing to help someone out when they were in need.
He is survived by his wife Donna, four sisters; Alice Bembenek, Julie Romatoski (Larry) of Merrill, Sally Rubenstein, PA, and Darlene (Derrick) Tudor of Irma, son Jeremie Birch (Pamela) of Schiorton, WI, step children; Michelle Vercauteren of Merrill, Richard Fonder (Crystal) of TX. Also four grandchildren; Christopher and Jayden Vercauteren of Merrill, Karissa and Breanna Birch of Schiorton, WI, sister-in-law Ruth Hoffman and brother-in-law Norbert Steffens of Appleton, WI, nieces; Roxanne Keto, ND, Tammie (Jeff) Arms, PA, Francesca Diane Barraza, (friend Andy Westfall), nephews; Matt (Adrian) Weber, Kevin Weber, James Tudor, Scott Romatoski (fiance Melissa Hebert), Shawn (Ashley) Romatoski of Merrill and Danny (Dianna) Ahlburn of Kaukauna, WI.
He is preceded in death by his parents Royal and Estelle Birch, son Brent Albrent, sister Judy Birch, brother-in-laws; Donnie Bembenek, Russell Ahlburn, Ronnie Keto and aunts and uncles, and several close cousins.
The funeral service will be Saturday, October 13, 2018, at Hillside Fellowship Church, 1501 N Pier St., Merrill, WI 54452. Visitation will be at 9:00 a.m. to the time of service at 11:00 a.m. Officiating will be Pastor Allen Worlin.
