Merrill Police reports

October 1
2:45 p.m.- Officers were requested by the Wisconsin Department of Corrections Probation and Parole to take a female subject into custody for a probation violation. The female was taken into custody and transported to the jail.
5:18 p.m.- An officer took a report of someone making unauthorized transactions utilizing another party’s debit card at a business in the City of Merrill and another business in the county. The investigation is ongoing.

October 3
11:07 a.m.- An officer responded to a complaint of an intoxicated driver. The vehicle was located pulling into a gas station. Contact was made with the male driver who showed signs of intoxication. The male was unable to perform field sobriety tests safely. He was arrested for Operating while Intoxicated, 3rd offense.
8:02 p.m.- Officers responded to a juvenile complaint. The caller stated they had video of their son smoking marijuana. The pipe was located and did not test positive for marijuana. The underage juvenile was cited for an underage tobacco violation.

October 4
4:18 p.m.- Officers responded to a business for a shoplifting complaint. The business observed a female leave the store without paying for items she had placed into her purse. Contact was made with the female by phone and she responded to the police department to meet with an officer. The female confessed to the incident and was cited for retail theft.

October 5
1:48 a.m.- Officers were dispatched to the area of the 100 block of South Prospect Street for a report of an intoxicated male that was causing a disturbance and was refusing to leave. Officer located that male who denied any involvement or creating a disturbance. Officers located a shattered wine bottle on the sidewalk which was found to have been broken by the suspect. Based off of witness statements, the male subject was taken into custody for disorderly conduct.
11:21 a.m.- Officers were requested by the Wisconsin Department of Corrections Probation and Parole to respond to their office to take a male subject into custody. The male subject was taken into custody and transported to the jail.
2:39 p.m.- Officers were requested by the Wisconsin Department of Corrections Probation and Parole to respond to their office to take a female subject into custody. The female subject was taken into custody and transported to the jail.
10:48 p.m.- An officer on patrol conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle that was found to be displaying a registration plate that was entered as stolen through the State of Michigan. During the course of the investigation, a female passenger was found to have an active warrant for her arrest. She was taken into custody for the warrant. The registration plates were seized and the law enforcement agency in Michigan will be handling the rest of that investigation.

October 6
7:59 p.m.- Officers were dispatched to a residence in 800 block of East First Street for a report of the odor of marijuana in the building. Officers located the source and contact was made. The party turned over some drug paraphernalia which contained burnt marijuana. The male will be receiving a citation for possession of drug paraphernalia.
