Merrill High School fired up for Homecoming

Merrill High School is celebrating Homecoming this week with a host of activities leading up to Saturday’s football game at Jay Stadium.

On Friday morning, football players, cheerleaders and marching band members visited other schools in Merrill to spread the Homecoming spirit.

Friday afternoon, a pep assembly was held at the high school featuring student skits and the coronation of 2018 Homecoming Queen Katy Ball.

Tonight continues with the bonfire on the high school baseball field from 7-11 p.m.

The Homecoming parade starts at Normal Park at 11:30 a.m. Saturday morning. Due to road construction on the East side, the parade route will be altered this year. The parade will still start at Normal Park and will proceed east on Sixth Street. However, this year, the parade will head north on Sales Street past the front of the high school. The parade will then turn east on Cty. G and enter the MHS parking lot by Jay Stadium.

Following pre-game ceremonies, including recognition of the Silver M and Golden M members, the Homecoming football game will kick off at 1:30 p.m. at Jay Stadium. The Bluejays will host the Rhinelander Hodags as both teams seek their first conference win of the season.

The Homecoming dance will he held from 8-11 p.m. Saturday night in the MHS fieldhouse.
