If you have a need for water softener salt, the Merrill Letterman’s Club has a deal for you. The Letterman’s Club’s new fundraiser will give people a chance to support Merrill athletics while stocking up on salt for their water softener.
The club is selling the water softener salt in 40 lb. bags at $7.50 per bag, with a minimum order of two bags. The order deadline is Aug. 15, and the salt will be delivered to people’s homes by Merrill athletes on Sept. 8, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. All proceeds of the fundraiser will stay local with 50% going to the Merrill Letterman’s Club, which is getting the salt from Merrill Ace Hardware.
The Merrill Letterman’s Club is a club that supports all Merrill athletics, paying for things like new equipment in the weight room, the ice machine and other items in the training room.
The idea of selling water softener salt came from Merrill Activities Director John Miller.
“When I was working in Minnesota the hockey program at our school was selling water softener salt and doing really well with it,” Miller said. “I researched schools doing similar fundraisers in Wisconsin and found only a few schools were doing it and there were none in the area. It is a great opportunity for people to fill a need for their home and also support not only Merrill athletics, but the whole community.”
Miller also commented on the unique delivery method.
“It also gives Merrill athletes a chance to show themselves in a good light to the community,” Miller said, “we are bringing these heavy bags to people’s houses so they don’t need to go through the labor of making multiple trips to get the salt into their house.”
