Ruth Lilliam Brummond

Ruth Lilliam (Gohr) Brummond, 86, of Wausau, passed away June 12, 2018, at the University of Wisconsin Hospital in Madison, surrounded by the love of her family.

Ruth was born on January 5, 1932, in Mount Vista, CO to the late Emil and Frieda (Quiram) Gohr. She graduated from Mount Vista High School and attended Adams State College in Alamosa, CO, before graduating with a Bachelor of Arts in Elementary Education from Concordia Teachers College in Seward, NE, in 1955.

Ruth spent much of her life residing in Merrill, WI (1960-1983), and Wausau, WI (1983-2018), but she was fortunate to travel around the world. Ruth visited South Korea, Paris, Petersburg, Russia. She also traveled to Koblenz, Germany, to experience her ancestral homeland. She was very proud to be German. All she saw was beauty, prosperity and lovely people.

Ruth’s greatest joy in life was dedicating time to her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren, all of whom she was exceedingly proud. Along with her surviving husband, Rudolph “Rudy” Brummond, she created a home where family was always welcomed and had a seat at the dining table. Her family will miss her handwritten cards, homemade pies, and her abounding love.

Ruth was preceded in death by her parents Emil and Frieda, brothers Lawrence, Alvin, Harold, Robert and Carl Gohr and sisters Lucille Faulkner, Dora Hansen and Florence Wacker. Survivors include her husband Rudolph Brummond, of Wausau, sons Douglas Freeman, Merrill, Daniel Freeman, Minneapolis, MN, Devin (Jeong Ae) Freeman, Daejeon, South Korea; daughter Denise (Richard) Myrup, Lakewood, CO; sisters, Erna Hancock, Eva Hammond and Esther Schroeder, grandchildren Joshua, Jeremiah, Megan, Joon, and Erza Freeman, and great-grandchildren Kaitlyn and Xander Freeman. She will be deeply missed by all.

No Services are planned.
