West side ‘summer fun weekend’ to benefit Merrill Food for Kids program

The Merill Community New Year Ride will be hosting their first annual ‘Summer Fun Weekend’ awareness and fundraiser event at DAT Bar, beginning at noon Saturday.
In addition to a brat fry beginning at noon, will be a bean bag tournament at 1 PM and live music beginning at 3 PM from Merrill’s own Jerry Duginski. Then Scott Kirby, one of the Wisconsin Northwoods’ best and busiest musicians, will take  the stage at 7 PM.

The fun resumes Sunday with a motorcycle, ATV/UTV ride and poker run; departing from DAT Bar at noon. The ride route includes stops both in the Merrill and Gleason areas.
Proceeds will be used to support the Merrill Foods for Kids Program as well as the Merrill Community New Year Ride’s ongoing mission of reaching out to individuals, families or non-profit organizations in the Merrill community, in need of a little extra help.
“We recently partnered with ‘Rosco’s Ride’, which is an annual motorcycle ride organized right here in Merrill,” said New Year Ride vice-chairman Paul Russell. “We share the very same mission and vision to give back to the Merrill community. Both organizations are fairly new, so we are looking forward to working together in continuing to give back to the Merrill community and helping those who could use a little extra support. This year’s Rosco’s Ride is planned for September 8, The ride will also be raising funds for the Merrill Food For Kids Program, which is overseen by St. Stephens United Church of Christ. We would love to have the community come out and join us this weekend for some summer fun, learn a little more about us and what we do; all while helping to support an amazing organization in our community. The Food for Kids program serves a tremendous service in our community and we are looking forward to doing what we can to support them”
