On Friday, June 1, the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office took a 911 call at 9:25 p.m. reporting a crash on County Rd. W just south of Apartment Street in the Town of Pine River.
Lincoln County Deputies, the Merrill Fire Department Ambulance along with the Town of Pine River Fire Department and First Responders all responded to the scene. The driver and lone occupant, a 50-year-old Merrill woman, was found trapped in the vehicle and removed by emergency workers. Pine River Firefighters established a landing zone on the highway and the MedeVac Helicopter landed on the scene but the victim died as a result of her injuries prior to its arrival.
Deputies believe the woman was traveling north on County Rd. W when her vehicle drifted off the side of the roadway. The vehicle hit a driveway embankment before rolling over into the ditch. The driver was identified as Amy K. Duley of Merrill. Alcohol was not a factor in the crash, this is the first fatal motor vehicle crash in Lincoln County in 2018.
