McAllister named Youth Optimist of the Month

The Merrill Noon Optimists have chosen Casie McAllister for March Youth Optimist of the Month; she was nominated by Mrs. Polly Koebe. Casie was an Algebra II student of Mrs. Koebe and is now in her Consumer Math class.

“Casie is very outgoing and eager to help those in her class during group work,” Mrs. Koebe comments. “She always comes to class with a smile and good attitude. She is eager to learn and help those around her. Even though Casie appears quiet at first, when you get to know her she is very helpful and positive. She has a good attitude and is happy to help.”

Casie has been involved in many school activities such as Octagon Club, Earth Club, Tennis, Link Crew, Big Sisters, Student Council and the homecoming skit. She was also a class officer for three years. As a member of the Octagon Club, she was the Public Relations Representative and Social Chair. Casie served as the JV Tennis Captain, earned a Varsity letter, and received the Outstanding Volunteer Award.

When not in school, Casie volunteers for the 5th grade celebration, Kate Goodrich Carnival, Washington enrichment, highway cleanup, Secret Santa and Breakfast with Santa, Special Olympics, Make a Difference Day, Pine River color run, church fish fry and Christmas bazaar, and Grandpa’s Farm. She is also a volunteer tennis coach.

Following high school graduation, Casie plans to attend UW River Falls for elementary education. Her dream is to teach children to love learning; she wants to make learning fun for them and encourage them to use their imaginations. She is the daughter of Lori and Ron McAllister.
