Park and Recreation Director, Dan Wendorf, accepts a check for $25,000 on behalf of the city from Merrill City Band director, Linda Becker. The band has been raising money for the past few years to improve Normal Park. This donation helped complete the park facility that houses a concession stand, warming house, restrooms and storage space.
The addition of the band’s contribution allowed for one extra stall in each restroom. Both Wendorf and Becker agreed that if you’re going to build it, you should do it right the first time.
The city band continues to raise money to make park improvements. Immediate needs include appliances and items to make the concession stand its most useable and to help put in a small parking lot, with a number of handicapped parking spots.
