Grover Carl Fred Henrichs, 78, of Merrill, passed away Saturday, April 7, 2018, at Pine Crest Nursing Home, Merrill.
Born in Merrill on March 1, 1940, Grover was the son of Grover and Alice (Raasch) Henrichs. He was a 1960 graduate of Merrill High School. Grover married Florence Thomaschefsky on May 26, 1962, at St. Stephen’s United Church of Christ, Merrill.
Grover was very proud to have served for 20 years in the U.S. Army. He enlisted in 1963, and his time in the military included tours in the Dominican Republic, South Korea and Germany. He ended his career with a stateside tour in Virginia, retiring in 1983. Grover then moved back to Merrill where he worked at Church Mutual until retiring for good.
Grover, Florence and their sons enjoyed traveling through western and southern Europe during his two tours of duty in Germany. Grover is also remembered for having a beautiful singing voice. Most of all, Grover enjoyed time with Florence, the love of his life.
Survivors include his wife, Florence: sons Timothy (Rhonda Kanitz) Henrichs, Merrill; Jeffrey (Karen) Henrichs, Edgewood, MD, and Kevin Henrichs, Merrill; and brother, Gerald “Chet” Henrichs, Merrill. Additional survivors include three grandchildren: Hollie (Matt) Ney, Jeffrey Jr. “JJ”, and Jimmy Henrichs. Grover is also survived by sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law: Mary (Ted) Hagedorn; Linda Jorgenson; Edward (Patricia) Thomaschefsky; Harvey (Terri) Tomaschefsky and Joe (Marlene) Tomaschefsky; and Linda Henrichs; also many nieces, nephews, and cousins. He was preceded in death by parents, Grover and Alice; brother Wayne Henrichs; sister, Donna Rhode; brothers-in-law Vernon Pankow, Dean Jorgenson and Donald Rohde; sisters-in-law Joyce Henrichs and Lillie Mae Pankow; and mother and father-in-law Frankliln and Lida (Schroeder) Thomaschefsky.
An intimate memorial celebration will be held at a later date. Mid Wisconsin Cremation Services is assisting.
