Sczygelski named Athlete of the Week

On March 22, the varsity Bluejay Girls Track team enjoyed a big win in their season-opener and Senior Emily Sczygelski’s performances proved to be a key factor. Not only did her first-place, 9 -foot pole vault performance surpass her nearest opponent by two-feet, but Sczygelski also came up big with a second place finish in the 50 meter hurdles (9 seconds) and third in the triple jump (29-07.25 Ft.)

A third-year member of the Girls Track and Field team, this past Winter Emily completed her second varsity hockey season as a first-year member of the Central Wisconsin Storm Girls Hockey team. Sczygelski also competed at the varsity level during her sophomore year; having  played the sport for the last 8 years overall.

Aside from sports, Emily is in her second-year of the Big Brothers, Big Sisters program as well as a volunteer in the “Learn to Skate” program, assisting with young hockey beginners.

Daughter of Monty and Joanne Sczygelski of Merrill, Emily currently maintains a 3.6 GPA. Following graduation this spring, Emily will be attending St. Norbert College in DePere, Wis. where she plans to major in either Biology or Chemistry.
