MHS freshman named ‘Hero of the Week’

Last week MHS freshman Nicholas Tanck was recognized by Wausau-based 95.5 WIFC FM and H&R Block; garnering ‘Hero of the Week’ honors,
Nominated by his father Richard, Tanck’s motivation to give back and help others played a pivotal role in his selection for the weekly award.
“Nicholas is an outstanding student who loves to give back to his fellow students and the community,” his father stated as part of Nicholas’ nomination.
“He is a Boy Scout and is working on his Eagle rank. He also volunteers with the cub scouts and serves as a den chief to assist the leader and helps by sharing what he has learned to the younger scouts. He also volunteers with big brothers big sisters once a week. He loves his choir class and is auditioning to get into the vocal jayz as a sophomore. He volunteers all lot through scouts as well. Whether is raking leaves for United way, or picking up garbage along the roadside he is always willing to help. Nicholas never even has a second thought when someone asks something of him. He believes all people should help anyone in need no matter what they might need.”
According to WIFC Brand Manager Nikki Montgomery, the ‘Hero of the Week’ program is relatively new; beginning in September of last year.
“H&R Block and WIFC feel it’s important to highlight kids doing great things,” Montgomery said.
“We hear so much negativity in the world today, but good things and great kids sometimes get lost in it. This is our way to give those kids a high-five and let them know that their good deeds aren’t going unnoticed.”
