Zach Mootz has joined the short list of now six Bluejays to score 1,000 points in their high school basketball careers. Mootz reached the milestone on February 13 when the Bluejays faced off against D.C. Everest to finish off their conference schedule. Mootz went into the game with 994 points, and finished the game with 20 in a tough loss. Zach currently sits at 1030 total points after scoring 16 in the win against Mosinee in Merrill’s final game of the regular season on Wednesday (Feb. 21).

With those 1,030 points Mootz is sixth on Merrill’s all time scoring list, behind David Jesperson with 1,051, Rory Osness with 1,068, Jim Langenkamp with 1,074, Jordan Stine with 1,124 and Paul Jesperson who leads the way with 1,696. Zach will have the opportunity to move up a few spots as the Bluejays look to make a playoff run, starting with their game next Friday night (March 2) at 7 p.m.
