Merrill Police reports

January 22
10:21 a.m.- An officer took a report of a male subject that was contacting another individual whom he was not allowed to have contact with due to a court order. The investigation is ongoing.
4:15 p.m.- A caller reported a crash in a parking lot. One person had been backing up and struck another vehicle in the lot. A crash report was completed.
8:27 p.m.- An officer conducted a traffic stop for an equipment violation. A K9 from the Lincoln County Sheriffs officer responded and had a positive alert on the vehicle. A subsequent search resulted in officers locating methamphetamine and items of drug paraphernalia. A male subject was taken into custody and transported to the jail.

January 23
3:54 a.m.- A caller reported her vehicle stolen. A likely suspect was named. The vehicle was located abandoned six minutes later on Hwy. 51 by a deputy.
1:58 p.m.- A caller reported she was in the process of selling her vehicle to a buyer who has the vehicle but is not making the payments to her. She discovered that person has now sold it to another party without the title. The officer discovered there is a lien on the vehicle and will be investigating as to whether or not charges will be brought against the sellers for selling encumbered property.
2:44 p.m.- A caller reported two males in her residence smoking marijuana and she wanted them removed. It was found nobody had been smoking marijuana and the caller had been napping and had a dream people were in her residence smoking marijuana.
9:45 p.m.- A caller reported a smoke odor coming into his residence from the downstairs residence. Officers did not receive a response from anyone in the lower residence and could smell a smoke odor and observe a haze inside the residence through a window. Officers forcibly entered the residence to ensure nobody inside was in need of medical attention and/or to ensure the residence was not actively on fire. A male and female were located passed out inside. The male had a warrant for his arrest through the Department of Corrections. He was arrested for that warrant. It was found a hamburger had been burned on the stove and a burner was still turned on. Merrill FD cleared the smoke from the residence.

January 24
2:30 p.m.- Officers located two male parties at an address in the 1000 Block of East Main Street. The two male parties both had active warrants and were taken into custody.
