Merrill Police reports

December 25
12:44 p.m.- An officer conducted a traffic stop on North Cottage Street. The driver was found to have a warrant for their arrest. The driver was taken into custody and transported to the jail.
3:31 p.m.- Officers took a report of a hit and run that had occurred on Wisconsin Street. Officers were advised by several neighbors of description of the vehicle as well as its last known direction of travel. Officers were able to locate the vehicle and eventually make contact with the owner who confirmed that he was the operator. He was cited for operating without a valid license, no insurance and hit and run. A sign and a tree were struck by the vehicle.

December 26
1:12 a.m.- An officer conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle. A K9 was deployed and made a positive alert. The vehicle was searched and contraband was located. The male passenger gave a false name to the officers. He was later identified and was arrested for obstructing and a probation violation. He also had drug paraphernalia on his person. The female driver was arrested for obstructing and also had narcotics in her possession.

December 27
1:38 p.m.- A female reported that she was being stalked by her ex-boyfriend. The female said that on separate occasions, the male would follow her through town and send her non-stop messages and voicemails which included some threats. Contact was made with the male and officers advised him to discontinue contact with the female. The male continued messaging the female despite the warning. The male was located and taken into custody. The male was charged with felony stalking and a probation violation.
9:02 p.m.- Officers responded to a report of a male who was not paying his taxi bill after being given a ride by a taxi service. The male was arrested for absconding without paying for a taxi and was transported to jail.

December 28
2:14 p.m.- Officers were requested by probation and parole to take a male subject into custody on a probation hold. The male was taken into custody and transported to the jail.
3:50 p.m.- Officers were requested by probation and parole to take a male subject into custody on a probation hold. The male was taken into custody and transported to the jail.
7:01 p.m.- Officers were dispatched to a West First Street residence for a report of a domestic disturbance. Officers responded and based off of the investigation, the matter will be referred to the District Attorney for review with no arrests taking place at this time.
