Restaurant fundraiser nets nearly $3,000 for Normal Park playground

On Tuesday, the Friendship House restaurant hosted a fundraiser for the Handicap Accessible Playground being planned at Normal Park by the Merrill Optimist Club.

“We express our deep appreciation for their generosity in giving 100% of all proceeds from 2 to 9 p.m. to the playground project,” said Dee Olsen of the Merrill Optimist Club. “We also thank the many people who came out to dinner to support this fundraising event.”

Optimist Club members and High School Octagon Club members were there to assist with coffee, water and clearing tables. This event raised $2,882 toward the playground.

“This is an expensive, but much needed project,” Olsen added. “The Optimist Club will be relentless in their efforts to get the project done.”
