October is observed annually as Domestic Violence Awareness Month, and HAVEN (Household Abuse Victims Emergency Network) will hold its annual awareness walk on Tuesday, Oct. 3. The walk will begin at the Park Street entrance to the River Bend Trail in Merrill. The public is invited, and participants are asked to gather at 4:15 p.m.
Purple is the designated color for domestic violence awareness, and those walking are encouraged to show their support by wearing purple. Walkers do not have to commit to any specific distance, and are welcome to walk however far they choose. We hope to enjoy a beautiful fall late afternoon on the trail and welcome everyone to come and help raise awareness for those affected by all forms of domestic violence.
