Church Mutual partners with The Commons and Branch to complete corporate challenges

Church Mutual Insurance Company is wrapping up a very successful semester with two student entrepreneurial programs, The Branch in Wausau and The Commons in Milwaukee. Church Mutual is the premier financial sponsor for both of these programs.

The programs give students the opportunity to work on innovation challenges from local corporations in a supportive environment. During the past 10 weeks, students tackled a corporate challenge and underwent numerous ideation workshops to discover customer, product and marketing channels and present a solution to the challenge.

Working with a team of business coaches and mentors, the team learned real-life business skills and developed a greater understanding of the insurance industry through their work on this project. The next cohort will begin in February.

On Nov. 29, a group of seven students presented the results of their corporate challenge at The Commons.

“The students did a great job of taking a conceptual project and turning it into something that we as a company can use down the road as we continue to progress and provide additional value to our customers,” said Church Mutual President and CEO Rich Poirier. “Church Mutual is proud to be a premier sponsor of both of these programs with the goal that our young talent will live and work in our local areas.”

The Branch students will present the solution to their corporate challenge at Demo Day on Friday, Dec. 9. The event is open to the public and will be held at Northcentral Technical College’s iTEC building from 10 a.m. to noon. The next cohort will begin during the spring semester and interested students may register via the website: www.thebranchwi.com. Businesses are also encouraged to support The Branch by sponsoring a corporate challenge or making a donation to the program.
