Quitting tobacco is the best gift you can give your family this year
The holiday season is upon us and with that brings opportunities to open our hearts our minds for those near dear to us. We may go about shopping throughout the month to find the perfect gift for our loved ones, but for some people in Wisconsin, the perfect gift will cost you nothing. In fact it will end up saving you money and improving your lives.
There is no present that a family would enjoy more than hearing that their loved one is going tobacco free. Those who have quit smoking will tell you that it took work, a firm decision and self-discipline to quit either on one specific day or by cutting back on smoking until they finally quit, being free from addiction.
Quitting tobacco has many rewards; some are noticed right away and others over time. One reward that you will notice right away is that you are saving money that you would have otherwise spent on tobacco. Other benefits include: food tastes better, your sense of smell returns to normal, your breath, hair and clothes smell better and ordinary activities leave you less out of breath (for example: climbing stairs and light housework). There are also a number of health benefits that can be experienced over time including: lower blood pressure and decreased risk for heart disease, cancers and stroke.
Tis the season of giving, making it an ideal time to give yourself and your family the greatest gift of all: better health. Please encourage Tobacco users that are ready to quit to call the Wisconsin Tobacco Quit Line at 1-800-QUIT NOW for free help.
