Corey Oemig

Corey Oemig, age 44, of Merrill, died peacefully at his home surrounded by his family on Sunday, November 13, 2016. He was born September 27, 1972 in Chippewa Falls to Patricia Sandley. On June 21, 1992 Corey and Heather Haugen were united in marriage in Merrill, WI.

Corey attended and graduated from Merrill High School. He worked at St. John Lutheran School as a custodian for about 2 years before joining the team at Pizza Hut where he was a delivery driver for 4 years. Corey enjoyed spending time with his family which was always his 1st priority. He was a goofy, wise, loving, silly, selfless and passionate man who was very loved. Corey was a diehard Packer fan. He enjoyed listening to heavy metal and watching Cubs baseball games, basking in the sweet victory of a world series this year. Corey enjoyed collecting comics and anything Batman related. He was a self-proclaimed happy nerd. Corey also chaperoned on mission trips with the CHAOS youth group.

Survivors include his wife: Heather Oemig, Merrill; mother: Patricia Sandley, Merrill; daughter: Megan Oemig, Merrill; two sons: Joshua (Alexandria) Oemig, Oshkosh, and Brett Oemig, Merrill; two grandchildren: Elijah Oemig and Avila Love; brother: Kenneth (Connie) Oemig, Florida; extended family: Troy (Chelsea) Powell, Ryan Galkin, Steven (Olivia) Jopek and Eric Andre; and  lifelong friends: Jay and Andi Binder, Jason Ranker, Dennis (Traci) Fick, Robert Michno and many others. He was preceded in death by his grandfather, Jim Robertson.

Memorial services for Corey will be held at 6PM on Thursday, November 17, 2016 at Journey Church, 1212 S Center Ave in Merrill. Pastors Brad Leder and Monti Smith will co-officiate. Visitation will be from 2PM until the time of service also at the church. Waid Funeral Home of Merrill is assisting the family with arrangements.
