United Way annual campaign underway

The 2016-2017 Merrill Area United Way campaign began Sept. 19 with the start of company campaigns and the public invitations were sent to every household and business in the Merrill, Gleason and Irma areas. Church Mutual Insurance Company held their week-long efforts the week of Sept. 26. Results are not yet tallied and reported, but United Way is anticipating a very strong outcome from its generous employees, topped with a company dollar-for-dollar match. Several other large companies will be conducting internal campaigns during October and November.

United Way President, Shannon Murray, reports the annual campaign goal is $172,000 for the 2017 year; up from the $165,000 goal for 2016. The annual allocations to agencies reflect the increases received during campaign. These funds support 20 programs in the Merrill Area.

Dee Olsen, Executive Director, reminds that everyone can give to United Way to help our neighbors, friends and family. United Way is a 501-C3 Not-For-Profit Organization impacting people’s lives in the areas of health, education and meeting basic needs. Contributions, large and small, help families struggling through difficult times. All dollars stay local and operating costs remain at about 10% of the entire budget.
