New perennial plantings on the River Bend Trail

Thanks to Zoellner’s Greenhouse and volunteer workers from Church Mutual Insurance Company, the River Bend Trail now features several perennial flower beds.Church Mutual volunteers build a flower bed near the Sixth Ward bridges.

Zoellner’s donated over 215 plants and Church Mutual volunteers donated an afternoon of their time to create the beds. Sharon Anderson of the Friends of the River Bend Trail commented, “This cooperative project is another example of how the community is taking ownership and responsibility for the beautiful trail that runs through our city! Other ways people have stepped forward to help is by picking up trash or dog waste along the trail. Additionally Scout Troops and volunteer work crews have cleared sections of brush and planted trees. We are always looking for more volunteers to help with such projects on the trail.”

If you would like to help, please contact Sharon by e-mail ([email protected]), by phone (715) 536-9166 or message the Friends of the River Bend Trail Facebook page.
