Public welcome to celebrate the harvest

The Tall Pines Community Garden in Merrill is welcoming the public to celebrate its first fall harvest. The event will be on Saturday, Sept. 24, at 1 p.m. at the Tall Pines Community Garden. The Tall Pines Community Garden is located near the corner of 6th Street and Memorial Drive, Merrill (adjacent to Pine Crest Nursing Home).

A light lunch will be served. Please bring a lawn chair and your sunscreen. If rain, the event will be moved to Lincoln County Health Department, 607 N. Sales St., Merrill. Since lunch is being served, RSVP is required by Sept. 20. Please note space is limited. Call 715-536-0307 or email Ann Stoeckmann [email protected] to make your reservation.

The Tall Pines Community Garden is made possible by funding provided by the UW School of Medicine and Public Health from the WI Partnership Fund. Additional funding from Ministry Good Samaritan Health Center has been provided. Other activities provided by this grant include food demonstrations in Tomahawk, support for the community gardens at Grace Lutheran Church and The Kinship of Tomahawk, and garden workshops in the Merrill and Tomahawk communities.

The following boots to the ground sponsors for these program have made this first year a success; University of Wisconsin Extension – Lincoln County, Live Sustainable Lincoln County, Lincoln County Health Department and Healthy People Lincoln County. The ultimate goal of these activities is to have accessible and healthy food options available to the residents of Lincoln County.
